Blush Mystery Box Review: May 2013
I already saw the sneak peek for this month and I wasn't that excited. Nail polish? Really? At least it's chip resistant right? What ever, let's get started!
So the first item is the Nick Chavez Advanced Volume Conditioner, retails for $24. It's a nice lavender color and I have tried products from Nick Chavez before and they were good. I'm always on the lookout for a newer, better, conditioner for my hair. It's a nourishing conditioner for fine, limp hair. I have fine hair but a ton of it and my hair isn't ever limp. I just finished another conditioner and I might just crack this open but I have a ton of hair masks so maybe not.
Holy shit, I got a sample of the B.Kamins BB Cream and it's absolutely disgusting. The product is a lightly tinted moisturizer packed with antioxidants. Suppose to smooth and tone your complexion, and leaves a sheer natural finish. I swatched it on my hand, it's tinted, but when you actually blend the product it feels chalky as fuck. It makes you look ashy and kinda gross. Sometimes, you know you see a person and their complexion is pretty gray and ashy looking and you know for a fact that they are smokers? Yeah, well this "bb cream" gives you that look. This is nothing and I mean nothing like a bb cream, why call it that? really bad labeling. Ugh! I'm going to avoid this brand like the plague and I'm also going to toss this crap.
I understand that Elle & Blair started Blush and they have a ton of lines under their belt. And Skylark is also theirs, anyway this is about Skylark Wild and Free Nail lacquer Set which retails for $29. I haven't been into pastels in forever but they are always appealing. The set has Jello shot (bright coral), B-days in Cabo (hot pink), Sea Glass (minty green), and Dreamcatcher (muted lavender). Sea Glass and Dreamcatcher appeals to me the most out of the four. The polishes are suppose to be chip resistant, opaque, and streak free.
Subscription companies always throw in eyeliners for some reason. I never gave a flying fuck for eyeliners, gel eyeliners, eye shadows. And now I have a new one Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner in black, retails for $21. In my opinion gel eyeliners are more superior to regular eyeliners but that's just me. it also has a flexible, built-in brush (perfect for lazy fuckers like myself).
Next up I have a skull baublebar bracelet and I can't find it anywhere but I found a similar one. I don't think I'm going to wear it since it's not my style. I like really delicate jewelry like the ones from catbird.
Last but not least are the Tocca body lotion sample and a Cotz face natural skin tone SPF 40 sample. I don't care for the body lotion since I don't even use body lotion and I already have another sample of the Cotz spf. I haven't tried it though until I have done more extensive research.
In Conclusion: This month was worth around $100 and the products weren't that great. I hope next month is better.
