Products I Regret Buying #2
Happy Saturday Everyone! This time around I have six products I want to talk about. Sometimes you have to spend a lot of money to see whether your skin will like them or not. So let's begin!
I'm going to start from right to left, the first thing is the eos lip balm in mint. I'm sure everyone knows what eos is so I'm not going to go into deep details about it. When eos first came out they only had the summer fruit flavor and I used up that particular one in two weeks. I used it every single day, multiple times a day (I loved it so much). Once the company came out with other flavors I obviously wanted them (bought them in mint, lemondrop, melon) I hated them. Instead of moisturizing my lips, it basically dried my lips out. Made my lips peel, dry, irritated! I have sensitive skin but wow this lip balm just took it to another nasty level. Whenever I used the product it'll dry out my upper lip, formed a dead hard skin layer over the top so the texture was totally off. It was fucking terrible, once I actually stopped using the disgusting balm the dried layer of unmovable skin went away as well. I hate the brand so much! I haven't bought anything from them since.
I wanted a new serum and I was searching up on everything and reading reviews and such. I came upon the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Serum, and a lot of people were saying that it was a great serum for break outs, made your skin radiant and all that jazz. I used this product for a good 4 1/2 months before stopping and going on it again (a really off and on relationship) until I finally decided that it did nothing for my skin. During that period of time I had some activity (what I called blemishes) and essentially that's what I used the serum for. The serum didn't take the activity away overnight or even in a few days. Took maybe a week? I hardly remember. Oh and you had to wear sun protection while using this product which was a pain on my part since I could be super duper careless (terrible, I know).
I've used a ton of products from One Hand Washes The Other, and they were great. I have used her black magic soap and cream cleanser, her solid perfumes are awesome and they last forever! (giant list of fragrances to choose from), perfume oils, and lip balms. What I'm trying to say is that, from what I used from her in the past, I have enjoyed and they are very solid products. Last year, I was just venturing into body oils so I wanted to try one from OHWTO and so I did. I bought Snake Oil in Desolation Angel, the scent description says "A rich blend of scents: cracked coconuts and fresh limes dance amongst swirls of dark musky woods, hint of vanilla, and a sprinkle of powder. This scent would smell great on men or women- it's one of my personal favorites." Doesn't it sound delicious? Not sure it mixed well with my body chemistry, it was just too much coconut and lime. I couldn't stand the scent so I only used the body oil a couple of times. The body oil (doesn't have anything to do with actual snakes by the way) sinks in very quickly but I don't feel like it moisturized my skin enough. My legs can get as dry as the Sahara desert (hardcore dry). I also wasn't a fan of the packaging (it's in a spray bottle) I would've liked it more if I could've just poured out the product. Do you know how hard it is to pump out product when you are literally wet? So hard.
Oh Skinmd Natural Shielding Lotion, I wanted to like you so much but my skin doesn't like you. On the site when you're reading the testimonials you're obviously reading only the amazing reviews (because there's only good ones). Everyone that has tried the product are saying all these amazing things like, it healed their eczema, stopped break outs, amazing for rosacea (the lists goes on). I only bought it because of all the great great reviews. It's a thin consistency and it sinks in very quickly. After a week, I don't know why but my skin was getting really red and itchy. Itchiness all over my cheeks and temples (the horror), I also noticed that whenever I put on the lotion I get this weird burny tingly feeling and usually when that happens (hell is coming). The lotion irritated my skin too much for me to continue using it so I just threw it out. I don't regret that part one bit.
Ah! The last two items are from Diva Stuff, and she makes some amazing face scrubbies and body exfoliation stuff. Once in a while she does have a few duds, and I have two of them. I have the Divas Clay Mask Is Key For Skin That's Blemish Free & Diva's New Sulfur Mud & Sebum Regulator Facial Scrub. Both of these products are from the anti acne stuff line (no one likes activity) and I hate them so much. The clay mask has a ton of great clays and peppermint essential oil in it. Whenever I used this my eyes would water because the peppermint is too intense! You only need a thin layer, it also dries in the most disgusting manner. You know how there are some houses out in the world and they are totally abandoned? And whether the walls are painted or wall papered they would be basically peeling off the walls? Yes, your face would look like the walls of the abandoned houses. It's so ugly! It's crackly and utterly horrifying to look at. I literally traumatized myself. You look like you have a major disease on your face. Also the mask did nothing for blemishes (absolutely nothing) like I said a dud.
The last thing is the sulfur mud & sebum regulator mask, I'm not sure why I purchased this product, the ingredients are sulfur mud, sebum regulator, kaolin clay, tea tree oil, peppermint oil, sugar, glycerin soap, and aloe oil. Exfoliation is great but not if you do it too much. This didn't do anything for my skin, if anything it made my skin worse. I still have tons of cubes left (a good 98%) and I don't know what to do with them. What am I going to do? Use them to scrub my feet?
