Julep June 2013 Box Review

So this month is "The California Coast Collection" and I switched to Modern Beauty like a month or two ago. But I always skipped because the selection wasn't really delightful and I knew for a fact that Julep nail polishes are crap (I know from experience). If you like Julep nail polishes you are the freakin' Antichrist. When I received my package today and I saw that it was from Julep I was so so angry/disappointed. This month I was totally busy and I forgot to skip before the 24th so I tried to call to cancel it but no one picked up and so I emailed them. They just gave me the usual blah blah "Oh if you wanted to cancel you should've skipped before the 24th of each month." I know that already! I wanted a refund but they billed me anyway! I also cancelled my subscription because I can't handle this crap customer service any longer! So let's get started!

The Information Card:

So the body tonic is a dry body oil, from the name I thought it was a body refresher. They say its "post-shower paradise"but what ever. The body oil is lightweight, antioxidant-rich oil absorbs instantly and leaves no greasy residue-just soft, silky skin and a breezy citrus fragrance. I used this today after my shower but I only used it on my knee caps since I was iffy about putting it on the rest of my body. So my knee caps are basically the guinea pig for the rest of my body (the testing area) I don't know! This is getting weird.

My knee caps feel good but I think they always feel good. They are softer than usual so I think the oil does soften your skin. Which is totally dandy! I recently had super duper bad sunburns from the sun (I hate the sun) and they are just starting to peel so now I have to deal with oddly placed tan marks from the sunburn. And one of my elbows is scraped (I don't know how) so I might just use the oil on that area. The fragrance doesn't smell anything like "breezy citrus" it smells like shampoo? the salon? nothing like a breezy citrus scent. What in the world is a breezy citrus anyway? I'm not a fan and it smells like hairspray. Like you're rubbing hairspray all over your body.

I know that sea salt sprays are all the rage and there are tons of sprays by different brands (one of my favorites is from Sachajuan). The sea salt texture spray is infused with sea salt and nourishing marine extracts, this styling spray adds texture, boosts volume, and creates gorgeous ocean-kissed waves. After I shampoo and condition I don't normally use other styling products in my hair because I hate it when my hair starts feeling heavy. Sea salts sprays is suppose to replicate the hair you get when you're at the beach. I actually hate going to the beach because I hate the sand, seagulls, gross ocean water, and the sand. I do however enjoy messy soft hair and sea salt sprays are good at giving me that messy hair that doesn't border on gross.

I used it today and...it's alright. My hair does have more texture but I don't notice any volume action. When my hair was a good 30% dry I sprayed it generously all over my hair and I let it naturally dry. I feel like sea salt sprays dry my hair even faster but that's probably just me. My hair doesn't feel heavy at all and I'll use it up. Might as well right?

The last thing I have in my box is the green tea facial blotting papers. I'm never ever excessively oily (knock on wood) so I don't carry blotting papers with me ever. Now I have a large collection of blotting papers I barely touch.

Anyway, this is officially my last box from Julep (thank god) because going back every month on the 20th just to skip is a bit of a pain. The quality of the nail polishes aren't good! and I cringe every time I see it around. If a brand is known for making nail polish they should just stick to what they know (even if it sucks), don't venture into make up (I roll my eyes at you).
