Goodies Co. Taster's Box Review: March 2013
I wanted to join Goodies Co. for the longest time, since I love snacks. So I finally received my first box. I couldn't open it the right way so I didn't take a photo of the products inside the box. But what ever let's begin shall we?
Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves:
The bright, sweet flavor of ripe strawberries is all you taste in this all-natural fruit preserve. Made from a time-honored French recipe, your taste buds will say Merci, as you savor the soft, spreadable preserves with juicy pieces of real strawberries.
My Thoughts: I haven't tried this yet, but I think it'll be really delicious.
Ola! No Nut Vanilla Granola:
Crunchy oat clusters, subtly sweetened with maple syrup, vanilla and cinnamon. So simple, yet remarkably flavorful. We love it....by the handful, on yogurt, with milk, baked into cookies, options are endless.
My Thoughts: I have had this particular granola before and I don't love or hate it. To me it's plain old granola with a bit of vanilla flavor. It also has clusters. I like adding it to yogurt because yogurt makes this plain jane into something more.
belVita Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits:
Thin crisp, and lightly sweetened. these biscuits are specially prepared to provide lasting energy. Made with whole grains, high in fiber, iron and B vitamins. You'll be happy to find they taste more like dessert than health food!
My Thoughts: Mmm! Better than I expected. When I first saw this I knew I wouldn't like it because the packaging is visually unappealing and there's cinnamon. I hate cinnamon, sometimes the flavor is too strong, and I was traumatized by the cinnamon challenge (I did it). Once I tried it, completely different story! The biscuit is thin and crispy, very crunchy, and tasty. Great that these biscuits are high in fiber. I can honestly eat a box of these before I am bored of the taste. You get a touch of cinnamon but not too much. You mostly get the brown sugar which is really nice. The biscuit is tasty but the packaging is still hideous.
Erin Baker's Double Chocolate Chunk Breakfast Cookie minis:
Start your day with a double dose of chocolate, without any guilt! Unsweetened cocoa and Belgian chocolate chunks gives this whole grain oat cookie a touch of decadence. Packed with protein, antioxidants and fiber, it'll be a shame not to enjoy this cookie.
My Thoughts: I wasn't blown away by this chocolate cookie. It didn't excite me either maybe it's because I don't have a large love for chocolate. But anyway, even though this is a mini cookie, it's pretty fat. It was a fat, chunky cookie. When I was eating this cookie I was kinda like "oh..okay whatever." The cookie wasn't anything special.
Rickland Orchard's Blueberri Acai Greek Yogurt Coated Granola Bar:
Creamy Greek yogurt wraps this vibrant, fruity, sweet and chewy granola in tangy goodness. Flavored with the distinct sweetness of blueberry and acai, both health superfoods, this protein and fiber packed bar is as good as it is good for you.
My Thoughts: I like how there's blueberries and acai berries in this bar. Other then that I wasn't quite into the granola. Made my mouth a bit dry and oddly starchy feeling, once I quenched my thirst it was dandy.
Newton's Triple Berry:
The classic Newton, its chewy cookie exterior and fruit filled center gets a tasty twist in this Triple Berry version. made with blueberry, strawberry, raspberry and whole grains, its as sweet and satisfying as ever.
My Thoughts: I wasn't ever a fan of Newtons because the filling is usually fig. I did enjoy the strawberry and cream version long long long time ago ( it was limited edition). I liked the fact that this had three different berries and it was also whole grain. Which makes it super fun.
Rip van Wafels Caramel Filled Amsterdam Waffle:
Treat yourself to a Rip van Wafels, a thin, Dutch caramel-filled waffle, best served atop (yes! a-top) your favorite hot beverage. As your coffee, tea, hot chocolate steams, the caramel melts, filling every bite of the sweetly spiced, cookie-filled waffle with delicious decadence.
My Thoughts: Would it be naughty of me to say that I ate this straight out of the package? Well I did. I've had these caramel filled waffles before and they were tasty as they should be. I enjoyed this quite a bit and I wished that I actually waited for this baby to melt.
Jovan's All Natural Instant Breakfast in Vanilla:
Mix this instant breakfast with a 8oz glass of cold milk and savor its sweet, creamy vanilla-rich flavor. Created by cancer survivor and nutrition enthusiast Jovan Johnson, its natural, high in protein, fiber and antioxidants, yet still tastes like a milkshake!
My Thought: Yes, another visually unappealing product. I didn't even read about this product and I thought it was one of those products that you had to mix with water (cringe). Now that I have read about the product, you're suppose to mix it with milk (Yay, I love milk) so I definitely want to drink this baby down.
Okay, so I just had this and I do not like it, I don't like it at all. I thought it'll be great tasting since it's mixed with milk but I don't know. The powder smelled good but once it was mixed with milk it sorta went "fishy". The instant breakfast was frothy, rich, and creamy! So if you're a fan of instant breakfasts you should try this since this particular one is suppose to be better for you. And it has 13 grams of protein which is completely awesome!
In Conclusion: Like I said before I've been wanting to try goodies co. for the longest time and now I am. I thought it'll be more indie products I have never tried or seen the brand before. Not talking about those off brand craps but like artisan products you know? So all these products you can just buy from some commercial place like walmart (I bet), not that I have been to one.
