Birchbox February 2013 Review

Recently I have decided to stop making Birchbox videos since usually I get very disappointing ones. This time I received box #14 if that makes any difference at all.

As you can see the theme this month is also "Red Carpet Ready" hopefully this doesn't suck as hard as Ipsy this month.

The Information Card:

The Box: Birchbox

The Cost: $10 per month

The Products: Deluxe Beauty and Lifestyle Samples

Showstoppers Designer Fashion Tape: 24 Strips $9.99
Celeb stylists swear by these double-sided tape strips, which prevent any wardrobe mishaps.

My Thoughts: Awesome! Sometimes I wear flowy shirts that could be potentially dangerous if I bend too low. I'm not saying I'm chesty, because I am so far from that equator. I just don't think it's professional to flash your bra especially in a working environment. This is my lifestyle extra and I'm welcoming it with open arms.

Secret Agent Beauty Kiss Kiss Rendezvous: 5 mL
Like a master spy, this sheer, vitamin-infused gloss gets to work without leaving behind any trace evidence (sticky residue).

My Thoughts: I know this is a gloss and I was weary like usual. But it looked so interesting and cool that I couldn't help myself. This gloss is in "Agent Golden Spy" and it's a ultra moisturizing collagen lip treatment formula infused with vitamins A, C & E, plus real gold flakes. This is definitely more of a lip treatment than a lip gloss that you normally see. It isn't a disgusting uber shiny lip gloss, thank the gods! You know I hate that saran wrap look (like you just ate a bucket of greasy fried chicken) that look really gives me cringe worthy nightmares. Anyway, this "gloss" makes your lips look really moisturized and healthy. If anything this is more of a balmy texture. I'm going to be honest and I have to admit that I do really like this.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Leave in Conditioner
Great for all hair types, this nourishing elixir performs seven hair-healing functions. Among them: adding shine, locking in color, and instant detangling.

My Thoughts: I can't tell you how large this deluxe sample is since there isn't any sizes shown. I haven't tried this yet but it seems quite interesting. The bottle is this rubbery plastic container. Like, what they made those old style 80s rubberized balls out of. So I'm reading the back and it's listing all the things that it is suppose to do like instant detangler, thermal protector, UV protector, seals cuticle, smooths hair, locks in color, adds shine, weightless, non-greasy, conditions. It also has this really weird smell that clings to the bottle it's a mixture of plastic, bad potpourri, and play-doh. The actual scent of the spray is a very heavy perfume kind of scent, the whole smell of the bottle/formula makes me nauseous. That smell tainted the whole box and the products.

Juicy Couture Couture La La Perfume Sample: 1.5 mL
Roll out the red carpet for this new scent, a stunning mix of mandarin, red currant, lily, and orange blossom.

My Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer: 10 mL
Rich with pili and moringa oils, this healthy moisturizer gives skin a velvety matte finish that lasts all day.

My Thoughts: I am in no need of a mattifying moisturizer because I don't have oily skin.

So this is a extra treat from BB and I ate this right away.

In Conclusion: Hmm this box wasn't that bad, box #14 didn't ruin my day. I also really liked the lip treatment and the Showstoppers. I hate the smell of the beauty protector hair detangler and I don't think that I'm actually going to end up using this. Because the smell is so atrocious and it taints everything that it touches. That was a downer product.
